[Error: Irreparable invalid markup ('<a [...] http://valcoxfrit.com/hyacinthvioletjar.aspx">') in entry. Owner must fix manually. Raw contents below.]

This week I have been playing with <a href="<a href="http://valcoxfrit.com/hyacinthvioletjar.aspx" target="_blank">Val Cox Hyacinth Violet</a> frit. An absolutely luscious bluish purple, super saturated, just gorgeous. These beads are available in the <a href="http://www.twoglassyladies.ca/?page_id=3288">Two Glassy Ladies store</a> as made to order designs, and most of them will also be appearing <a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop/ahouston">in my Etsy shop</a> in the near future.

All orders from the <a href="http://www.twoglassyladies.ca/?page_id=3288">Two Glassy Ladies store</a> between now and April 8th will include a free gift! (A set of matching spacers, or a fun focal, or? It will be a surprise!)

This week I've added a few new designs to my repertoire. Simple etched organic rounds with silvered ivory. They are acid etched to a soft matte finish.

Gold Coast Lampwork Beads [Mar. 9th, 2012|02:40 pm]

This week I have been playing with a frit blend by Val Cox called Gold Coast. It is “A complex merging of soft and defined aqua tones, both transparent and opaque, paired with a beautifully reactive opaque, Chalcedony, further punctuated with a rich, pure gold stone.” I had some great results from this blend. (For those who aren't glassworkers, frit is ground up glass that comes in different colour blends. All of the beads shown after the cut were made by me in a torch, all using the same frit blend but on different bases to produce very different results!)

My class today was cut short, so I thought I'd take advantage and post something here. I always love looking through all the cool stuff that shows up in this community, although I don't post or comment very often. I've re-discovered my love of playing with sparkly things, and so thought I'd show off a few items I made, as well as a few pictures of some stuff I made a long time ago that I don't think I ever posted anywhere.

Working at the Freak Bazaar has reminded me that I totally need a new banner/sign. ..But the only signs I've ever made were hand-painted/drawn ones on cardboard- so I kinda came up with what I hope will be an inspiring idea: A goods-for-design contest. :) My thought was this: Whomever designs the best banner/sign for me to use while vending, showing, etc. (heck even camping- I can put it across my tent to advertise! ;D) they'll get one custom-made item, created especially for them- in recompense for their hard work.
What do you think?

If you'd like to participate, pop me your designs here, on my own LJ page, via LJ message, or through any of the other venues where AV is, and I'll show them off on AV's Blogger page, on the AV Facebook page, and on my own LJ space as they come. Then, we can all vote on the best submission, and the winner will receive either a piece of jewelry, a polymer clay goody, a pair of horns, a drawing (or any other type of oddity that I make), that's been hand tailored and custom created to fit their personal druthers. :)

Hope you like the idea, and if you have any questions, feel free to let me know. :)

Cheers!

Plus I'll be bringing my new polymer clay goblin & goddess ornaments, (with other Fimo creations still to come), in addition to many of my trad. Fine, Fantasy & Dark art pieces to take home, right then & there.  (My 2-D art comes framed and ready to go for gift giving, or decorating your home straightaway!)  -Who needs shipping fees?  So come see me Sat. night, Nov. 27th, sometime between 5-9pm! Perhaps once you're done shopping, you can stay for Spellbound's regular nightclub event; and dance the night away!

For more info, check out the "Freak Bazaar's" event page on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=171368712882649, or on their own web site at http://www.spellbound-dc.com/events.html. Instead of Just Arbitrarily Making Stuff... [Nov. 12th, 2010|03:08 pm]

I'd like to know what YOU want for your Winter Holiday this year! :D

What kinds of art, beaded jewelry, polymer clay, felt creations, or other crafty concoctions would people like to see for the holidays?
..A gaunt & grinning goblin, masquerading as old Saint Nick maybe? Or a faerie gala, gleefully gathered 'round a bountiful feast perhaps? Seomthing delightful yet ghoulish, with everything from veggies to sundry severed parts; like the remains of fool-hardy human to fickle, feathered foul..?

What do YOU seek to give or receive over the holidays..?

(x-posted in a few places where appropriate. :))
